Upper Back Pain Symptoms

One of the most common spinal disorders is upper back pain.  To treat this it is always best to know the upper back pain cause.  It would be easier for upper back pain symptoms to be identified if it there are other symptoms that exists.

Symptoms associated with upper back pain cause would be abdominal mass, abdominal pain, abdominal symptoms, aches, acute nausea and vomiting, angina, anxiety, appetite changes, ascites, back pain, back symptoms, bleeding symptoms, body symptoms, bone pain, bone symptoms, breathing difficulties, breathing symptoms, burning symptoms, chest pain, and chest symptoms, to name a few.  These are just common upper back pain symptoms, it would be better to check with a specialist for more severe cases.

There are two most frequent factors in upper back pain causes.  These are vertebral subluxation complex or known as joint dysfunction and myofascial pain also known as muscular irritation. These two factors are usually found together and it is very rare that you would see one without the other.

Upper back pain symptoms would include shortness of breath, tired arms, shoulder discomfort, restricted neck movement, pinching and stabbing pains (usually between the shoulder blades), excessive muscle tension (usually in lower neck or / and upper arms).  These upper back pain symptoms usually come together.  And most patients complain about more than one upper back pain symptoms.

There are so many upper back pain causes which were diagnosed as time passes.  These upper back pain causes are usually caused by prolonged sitting, improper sitting, computer use, poor posture, one-sided sporting activities (such as racquet or golf), weak abdominal muscles, repetitious activity, motor vehicle accidents and sports injuries.
Other upper back pain causes include back injury, whiplash, back strain, exertion, bending, large breasts, osteoporosis, heart disease, referred back pain, ruptured spinal disc, and spinal disc disease.

There are twelve medium sized vertebrae in the thoracic spine and these form the joints with two opposing ribs. The thoracic vertebrae encase and protect the thoracic nerve root and the spinal cord. It also acts as a connection for the ligaments and muscles of the mid spine. The mobility of the lumbar and the cervical spines are more than the mobility of the thoracic spine.  This is because of the strong articulation with the ribs of the thoracic spine.  Common upper back pain causes in the thoracic spine are vertebral subluxations, where the spine becomes statically misaligned.  It is also possible that it is functioning abnormally which results to muscle spasm, pain, and nerve malfunction.

There are 24 ribs so that would be 12 on the right and 12 on the left. And each vertebrae of the thoracic spine is attached to a pair. It is possible that if the adjacent vertebrae misaligns and malfunctions, the thoracic spine and the ribs would be too. So it would be better to know the upper back symptoms as early as possible to prevent any of these upper back pain causes.
