Lower Back Pain Prevention

Almost half of us put up with back pain at some point in our lives. But there are tips that can prevent lower back pain. Many of the activities we do everyday like sitting, lifting, bending and carrying can put strain on the back.

By learning new ways of going about these activities may be helpful in preventing lower back pain and is meant to guarantee the health of the back for a long time. The following low back pain prevention tips may help.

Position your arm behind your back. If one will take a seat for long hours in a chair without back support and cushion, try to make a tube using a sweater or towel that has the same circumference as your forearm. Then slide the rolled-up towel in the inner of the lower back and chair. Even with the chair that has a back support, sitting still adds stress on your back so one should make adjustments for the bending of the lower back.

Use a cushion. The seats of the car and trucks are not well designed. The seats must be designed in where they should support the small portion of your back. It’s better to lean back at 110 degrees. If you sit for long hours, one must periodically get up and walk.

Swim. Swimming is a good quality work out for the back. Doing laps in the pool can improve muscle toning and tightening particularly the muscles of the back and abdomen while walking is the second best exercise for the back.

Raise your knees bent. The legs and buttocks muscles are well-equipped to carry heavy weights than the back muscle. One can to have a goldfish bowl filled up with water on top pf your head then squat down to pick something up without spilling a
drop and this exercise strengthens leg and buttock muscle.

Carry objects adjacent to your body. When collecting up and carrying heavy objects, pull your elbows close to you and hold the object adjacent to your body. The body’s load should be carried by the straight spine and not by the back muscles.

Stay alert. Careless activity is the main cause of back pain. Avoid bending and twisting and lifting.

Watch your weight. Maintaining your body weight can help to take strain off the back muscle. The fewer things you carry, the less cargo you have. If one gains weight, it will add up to the weight in your abdomen causing the back to be swayed-back that can accentuate back pain.

Eat healthy. Watch the foods that you’re eating. It is recommended to have enough amount of calcium and vitamins that the body needs to prevent osteoporosis that can eventually lead to back pain.
